Ms Brodie Cambourne
Brodie is an Accredited Stand Up Paddle Board Instructor and has competed numerous courses on back care, posture and exercise for improved lung function and applies these skills to her paddling instruction.
Brodie has been involved in ultra marathon kayak paddling and has completed 1000km of paddle racing through out Australia in 2018. Brodie has participated in the Clarence 100 since its inception and rates The Clarence 100 as her favourite ultra-marathon event. Brodie commenced her competitive aquatic sports career competing with Surf clubs in boat rowing and ski paddling during the 1990s on the NSW South Coast, Brodie began to focus on flat water paddling as a great way to maintain fitness. After completing a number of NSW paddle marathon events Cambourne then decided to challenge herself further with longer distance marathons. “Long distance paddling has allowed me to listen to many hours of great podcasts and books and to get away from my email and phone so it's my escape.” Brodie has come a long way since venturing into in the longer format, her major ultra-paddling achievements to date are as follows: Winner Open Female Massive Murray Paddle 2018 and 2019, 404km Winner Open Female RPM 200 2018 and 2019, 2021 200km Winner Open Female Hawkesbury Classic 2018, 100km Winner Open Female Clarence 100 2019, 100km Winner Open Female Myall Classic 2019 ,47km Brodie heads up “Team Wooden Eye” paddle group based on the South Coast. Team Wooden Eye epitomise the spirit we value with our paddlers, always willing to have a laugh, share a story, have a beer and generally keeping it real. This year as restricted as it is, Brodie aims is to finish the 24-hour paddle marathon Canberra and off course to paddle her favourite race The Clarence 100 |
